Stefan Nitzschke - Calvary Baptist Church

Stefan Nitzschke

Senior Pastor in Waiting

About Stefan Nitzschke

Stefan isn’t sure when he got saved, only that he is saved. It could have happened while sitting on the lap of his faithful parents who dutifully read the Word of God to he and his siblings. It could have been during the Bible lesson of a tired Sunday school teacher (we didn’t make it easy on them…), or in the quietness of a restless night during high school, or when God turned his life around later in college. Regardless, Jesus showed Himself to be lovely to him, and ever since, he has sought to allow that love of Christ to control him (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)—an imperfect man, redeemed by a perfect Savior.

In 2011, he perceived a call to ministry while finishing up his degree in MIS at Iowa State University and sought formal theological training, thereafter. He got connected with Faith Bible Seminary of Lafayette, Indiana and joined the 2013 MDiv cohort. The year prior (2012), he got married to Alexandra and the two of them began adding to their number in 2016: the same year he was hired by the church affiliated with the seminary to plant a church. He served as a pastor in various capacities at Faith Church for 10 years before answering the call in 2026 to move down to Kentucky and serve the church family at Calvary Baptist.

Stefan and Alexandra now have six children – five boys and one girl – and are on a prolonged mission to hike all the national parks. Alexandra loves the Lord and is a gifted mother, writer, and speaker who enjoys running, reading, and being around people. Stefan is finishing up his PhD in preaching at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and hopes to one day show his children that school does finally end.
