Calvary at Dawn

Calvary at Dawn

We all love a good story.  We like them in a movie or told in a book or rehearsed in a conversation.  The best story we have ever heard is God’s big story in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We rehearse it week after week at Calvary.

God sent Jesus Christ to redeem Adam’s sinful and rebellious race.  He died on the cross for our sins, according to the Scriptures.  He was buried.  And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures.  The story of redemption is a story only God could write and only God could accomplish.  His stories are always the best…just marvelous to us as we hear them.

In this month of March, I, along with others, are going to tell you a story that only God could write.  It is the story of God’s love for Calvary and advocacy on our behalf.  It is about this moment.  It is about the future.  And it is a good story.  Those of us who have been in and around its development marvel at what God has done.  It is that good.

I have the privilege of unpacking this story for our church family over the next three weeks, then our month together is going to end big.  What a great month is before us in March.  I promise, none of us are going to forget March 2026 at Calvary.  You will not want to miss one Sunday.  So, don’t!  🙂

We begin a mini-series entitled Dawn at Calvary 2026.  God has brought and is bringing a new day.  I want you to hear the whole story.  When we tell the story this Sunday, we will be all together in one service at 10:30 a.m.  Also, not meeting at 8:00 a.m. and meeting altogether in one service at 10:30 a.m. will help us to weather the time change when we lose an hour of sleep.  Set your clocks forward on Saturday…yes, we lose an hour!  Get up with a heart full of expectancy.  That is a good way to live.

I love the dawn.  It holds such promise.  Dawn is indicative of our moment at Calvary.  Let’s open our Bibles and hear the Word of the Lord.  If you want a head start read Numbers 22 through 24.

If you grow up milking cows, you have seen a lot of dawns.  They are not all alike.  Red ones are a portent of rain.  But some break so fair, as this one at Calvary, that you become convinced early, it’s going to be a good day.  This dawn is bringing us to a good day.  Look forward to it with me.  Our great confidence is that nothing about God ever changes.  Hallelujah!
