John the Baptist: The Introducer’s Privilege

John the Baptist is an interesting figure. He has a remarkable birth and the unusual privilege of introducing Jesus Christ. He was different. His habitat was the wilderness. He was an outsider, by God’s planning. It takes the outsider to grab the attention of the indulgent and the distracted. He was a little out there. He was bold in his courage with his prophetic voice. His life reminds us of God’s purposes for us in the midst of His inscrutable plans. Each of us are called to a role to play in God’s great plan to save the world through Jesus Christ. Not all of our roles are the same. Our roles have a history with a predetermined arc. There is a beginning. They come to an end. We need to capture the opportunities of ministry with courage and obedience and follow hard after Jesus Christ and His plans for us. This series on John the Baptist will help us to those ends.
