Titus: The Transforming Power of the Gospel

Indeed, the gospel is an old old story about a Savior who came from glory!  It is still good news today.  Jesus Christ is life.  To know Him is to have life.  To believe in Him is to take up His life as our own.  He is the way to life.  This old gospel story transforms how we live.  The book of Titus is the template for how the gospel makes men and women brand new.  It is the story of how the gospel gripped the island of Crete and made believing Cretans, Christians.  The book talks about the complete makeover of humanity that the gospel enacts.  It speaks of the transformation of the life of the follower of Jesus Christ.  It weds believing with being and behaving.  It describes what is indicative for the believer in Christ and what we ought to expect and why.  In laying out this transformational map, Paul’s charge to Titus helps us understand the way forward to change and the means God uses to bring that about in the life of His church and among His people.
